Since the first vintage of Charles Melton Wines in 1984, this small Barossa Valley winery has gained both national and international recognition for its fine red table wines. Charlie was one of the first to recognize the value and tradition of the Barrosa’s old vineyard Grenache, Shiraz, and Mouvedre. At a time when others were pulling out the vineyards of Shiraz to plant more fashionable varieties, he was convincing farmers to keep their historic vineyards. He was one of a small group of winemakers who helped retain the viticulture heritage if the Barossa.
COLOR: Bright pinkish-red tones.
NOSE: Sweet cumquat yin and yang aromatic. Quite vinous yet some sweet perfume. Perhaps a slight spice or herbal note from the Pinot Meunier.
PALATE: The palate weight and style are classic Rose of Virginia, full yet fine and with that richness balanced with the finest of tannic grip which makes it such a great summer luncheon wine or a lighter red style with a bit of age.
GRAPE VARIETIES: Grenache Shiraz Mataro.
